
Finding Peace Amidst Daily Stress
Stress is a never-ending reality in the world today. Family obligations, email, social media, work/school, the state of the world, and the environment are all daily stressors that are unavoidable. However, we can arm ourselves with the right nutrition to face these challenges. By drinking the nutrition your body needs, you are intentionally choosing to be healthy.
For me, every day is a chance to be better than the day before. I am sure I am not alone in admitting that I am not perfect at doing everything every day to boost my health. I too struggle to find the time in the day to accomplish all I want to, or exercise every day, or get enough sleep, or call or write to all the people I would like to. Lately, exercise is the thorn in my side that I just can’t seem to incorporate into my daily schedule.
I try to look at all the different activities I do throughout the day to see that I have exercised, just not with intention. I walk my dog, I bend, lift, carry, and squat all day long. However, it is not enough all together at one time. So although I am keeping my body moving, I am not raising my heart rate for extended periods. We all need to raise our heart rate each day so we get blood circulating through all our muscles.
When I think of relaxing at the end of the day, a cup of tea is always in the picture. There is something soothing about holding a cup of deep nourishment, whether hot or cold. Self-care is essential to our survival. There is something about making a nourishing drink or a plate of freshly harvested vegetables that screams self-care. I so enjoy doing something nice for myself this way as often as possible.
